Revamped MoP Talent System – Resto Shaman Edition

This is part of a series on the healing talent changes coming / proposed in MoP expansion coming to World of Warcraft. I started this series with my slight rant on the limited tree options here, but I also went into more detail on the Holy Paladin tree. But, I will also be diving into each healing class thanks to my dear friends and healbots!

We posted the HolyPriest edition yesterday, and here’s the Resto Shaman one!

Introducing Our Guest – Musimo

This article’s guest writer is a guildie, Musimo.Musimo started playing wow back in 2006, just before the Burning Crusade came out. Original started as a warrior but ended up a resto shaman in wrath and cataclysm. He’s been both a social player and a raider! He’s got a gazillion characters, of which he primarily raids with a holy paladin now.

Because he also has a resto shaman in our guild and lots of resto experience, I asked him for his feedback on the proposed MoP Shaman Talents. here we go!

Shaman Talent Tree

In MoP we will see another revamp of the talent tree, how many will follow. To clarify some things I walk to each tier and tell what in my opinion if recommended to take.  With the new talent system coming in MoP, every spec will see the same tree. The Shaman tree looks like this (currently):

Tier 1 (level 15): Control

In this tier it’s all about controlling your enemy target. Personally I don’t lake it but we have to take one to go into the next tier, so I would pick repulsion totem.

Tier 2 (level 30): Damage Reduction

In this tier we see all options to lower the income of all damage. Astral Shift looks promising, but I don’t like the damage and healing reduction. I would go for Stone Bulwark Totem with the hope the shield will be much bigger.

Tier 3 (level 45): Snares

Snaring is all where it come to in this tier. I see the use of Imp Ghost Wolf more use in questing and Windwalk and Tranquil totem more use in raidwide environments. Depending on bossmechanics currently I prefer Tranquil Mind totem over Windwalk.

Tier 4: Healing Tier

Here we find to boost our healing, where I totally dislike Healing Tide Totem, but love Ancestral Guidance. Our own Gardian of the ancient kings. Also on how a fight is I like Fortifying Waters. It’s just on how a fight is. Heavy aoe or big single target.

Tier 5 (level 75): Throughput

This tier is a no-brainer to me, I would put my bet on Echo of the Elements. But after looking into Nature’s Swiftness I started to doubt. A flat 5% haste increase I also tempting. Depending on how how things will roll out in the end both can do.

Tier 6: Totems!

This tier is all about totems, putting down the same totem of the same element or replacing it when they were destroyed. Or relocation them. Personally I prefer Totemic projection, but only on movement fights. Totemic restoration can be nice, but I won’t see our totems destroyed on normal boss encounters.

Spec of Choice

As it stands right now, this is his preferred healing spec.
