This is part of a series on the healing talent changes coming / proposed in MoP expansion coming to World of Warcraft. I started this series with my slight rant on the limited tree options here, but I also went into more detail on the Holy Paladin tree. But, I will also be diving into each healing class thanks to my dear friends and healbots!
We posted the HolyPriest and Resto Shaman one recently, but this is the tree, errr I mean hippy… err I mean resto druid edition! Enjoy
Introducing Our Guest – Jauren
This article’s guest writer is a long time guildie, Jauren. He’s affectionately known in the guild as Papa J, as both of his kids and his wife raid on our teams. his family brings a tank and 3 healers to our 2 teams
He’s also a dear friend of ours (he even sailed to our house! for realz!) and he’s no stranger to the game, he has played all sorts of characters since vanilla.
Because he raids as a resto druid n in our guild and has lots of resto experience, I asked him for his feedback on the proposed MoP Druid Talents. here we go!
Druid Talent Tree
In MoP all three specs have access to the same talent tree. For a hybrid class like the druid that opens the possibility to turn the tide in situational circumstances with abilities outside the main spec. As a result not all talents are a pure addition to healing. It has the potentoin to add an extra dimention of interesting gameplay.
The druid tree looks like this (currently):
Tier 1 (level 15): Movement
Tier 1 is about movement. Displacer Beast and Tireless Pusrsuit look mostly usable for pvp and feral druids. My choice is the general movement increase of Feline Swiftness.
Tier 2 (level 30): Oh Snap!
Tier 2 provides three “oh snap” heals. Renewal is a selfheal. Natures Swiftness provides an instant cast for a lot of usefull spells. Cenarion Ward looks good to counter incoming heavy damage. For general purposes I choose Nature’s Swiftness. For tank healing I will switch to Cenarion Ward.
Tier 3 (level 45): Crowd Control
Tier 3 supports crowd control. Here the obvious choice for most fights is Mass Entanglement . Typhoon can be a situational second choice.
Tier 4: Cooldowns
Tier 4 is about cooldowns. Here Incarnation provides the Tree of Life. This is the obvious choice for most resto druids. Possibly Wild Charge can be specced temporarily for specific fights.
Tier 5 (level 75): Hybrid Support
Tier 5 is an example of the hybrid support role. Since Demoralizing Roar and Bear Hug both activate bear form, Ursol’s Vortex is the obvious choice for resto’s. Although I would gladly spare a Bear Hug for our lovely GM and author of Healbot.net. (note from Gina – OMG HUGGLES <3)
Tier 6: Hybrid Support!
Tier 6 is another example of the hybrid support role. This one looks very “under construction” at this point, describing no restoration triggers. Based on the general description, Master Shapeshifter can prove to be an interesting cooldown for extra healing output.
Spec of Choice
All together this will be the spec of my choice for now:
*Thanks Jauren!*
