Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

Welcome to Firelands – Majordomo Staghelm Edition!

For the first time, YOU control the phases of the fight. Seriously!

Majordomo is the last boss in Firelands leading to the “endboss” Ragnaros. He literally stands before the last door you need to get to the big guy. And surprising, it’s not that bad once you get the hang of the fight!  You control the phase, but don’t let anyone die icon wink Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

Basic Concept

  • 1 boss
  • 3 forms
  • 1 tank required
  • 3 healers, leaning toward moar aoe healz
  • tactical fight, massive healz, moderate tank damage
  • MOVEMENT MOVEMENT MOVEMENT
  • OMG NO INTERRUPTS NEEDED? Yes, seriously.
  • Bring a nice mix of melee and ranged plix.

Boss = Majordomo

  • 51M health
  • Bad news…. He’ll be annoyingly switching forms throughout the fight
  • Good news! …. You control his form switches and phases though

Encounter Strategy

Overall, this fight is all about positioning, your raid’s position will determine which form the boss will take and what he will do.

First, let’s go over the bosses forms.

Scorpion Form

He takes this form when 7+ people are all stacked up at the same time.

BossBlueprintStrat 2 300x159 Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

  • raid needs to stand in front of the boss
  • HOLY SHIT AOE HEALS
  • he’ll remain in this form while the group is stacked
  • due to damage from Adrenaline and Fury (8% per application) your raid can only take a certain amount of stacks of fury before forcing the next form switch
  • boss will continiously do  Flame Scythe which will wipe your raid if other 2 stack too high.

Kitty Form

He takes this form when 7+ people are not stacked up at the same time.

BossBlueprintStrat 3 300x159 Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

  • ranged/healers need to spread around the “circle on the floor”
  • boss will leap at a ranged and leave a copy of himself at melee -  Leaping Flames
  • dps should kill copy Spirit of the Flame first and fast
  • spot heal the raider who got jumped on, it will leave a huge fire patch on the ground
  • you that raider? stop casting, do not pass go, do not collect 100 dollars. get the fuck out of the fire icon smile Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide
  • due to damage from Adrenaline and Fury (8% per application) your raid can only take a certain amount of stacks of fury before forcing the next form switch
  • he’ll remain in this form while the group is spread

Human Form

He takes this form after the second transition and after the fifth transition and will cast an additional spell.

The first human form is a modified version of the scorpion form:

  • raid should stack on the tank in front of the boss
  • Majordomo will throw Searing Seeds will be thrown into the raid
  • every raider (except for the tank) will have a debuff with a different timer
  • at 5 seconds remaining on the debuff, each raider must run out of the raid, let the seed explode, then hurry back to the stacked raid
  • boss will continue to  Flame Scythe

The second human form is a modified version of the kitty form:

  • ranged/healers should spread around the circle like before
  • Majordomo will summone 2 x Burning Orbs at ranged position (not a person)
  • Each orb attacks the nearest player, burning them for 5k Fire damage every 2 sec, so 2 ranged/healers need to alternate who stands next to each orb. Typically for 6 stacks of the debuff each
  • Note: if the orbs are an issue for your team, you can consider bringing 4 ranged dps so you have 2 to handle each orb
  • at 5 seconds remaining on the debuff, each raider must run out of the raid, let the seed explode, then hurry back to the stacked raid
  • boss will continue to boss will leap at a ranged and leave a copy of himself at melee -  Leaping Flames and raid needs to kill the copy

Suggested Healing Assignments

  • 1 healer on each tank (if holy paladin, use bacon on your tank and heal for tower of radiance yumminess)
  • 2 raid healers
  • kitty phase is healing light, use regen cooldowns then it is mostly safe
  • scorpion phase is super heavy healing and you need to time your cooldowns correctly to handle it

How to Get Started

Find out what you can handle…

Step 1 – everyone should stack in the center on your tank. pull the boss and see how many stacks of the Fury your raid can handle before healing gets too hard. We could handle 7 the first time at the start of Firelands. Your mileage may vary.  Wipe. Yes, really.

Step 2 – everyone should spread around the circle melee and tank in center. pull the boss and see how many stacks of the Fury your raid can handle before healing gets too hard. We could handle 6.  Wipe. Yes, really.

Step 3 – now you know how to get started!

How to Execute the Strategy

Step 1 – Start in center with scorpion phase, take 7 stacks (edit: thanks all for the comments! we upped the stacks on our attempt this weekend to 8-9 but didn’t seem to get much more off the boss. I guess that depends on your dps output)
Step 2 – Spread for kitty phase, take 6 stacks
Step 3 – collapse to center with scorpion HUMAN phase, take 5 stacks (watch that debuff and move out when needed)
Step 4 – Spread for kitty phase, take 5 stacks
Step 5 – collapse to center with scorpion phase, take 5 stacks
Step 6 – Spread for kitty HUMAN phase, take 5 stacks (ranged handle the switching with orb debuff)
Step 7 – collapse to center with scorpion phase, he should DIE NOW! icon smile Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

Oh and… general tip PUT A RAID MARKER ON THE FACE OF YOUR TANK. Unless he’s a big fat druid bear he’ll be hard to see in all the chaoes on the ground/boss mechanics.

Holy Paladin Tips:

  • Use Aura Mastery on second to last stack of scorpion phases
  • Use Holy Radiance on CD on scorpion phase
  • Use Divine Plea at transition to kitty phase, healing is light in kitty phase
  • Use Divine Protection when you need to move in/out of form phases
  • Use Divine Protection when you get targeted by kitty to help damage mitigation also

Conclusion

WoWScrnShot 073111 231848 300x168 Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide
Lots of avoidable damage. It will take a bit to get the mechanics and movement but once you do, it’s pretty easy.  Only heavy healing is in the scorpion phase, but it’s made much easier with rotated raid cooldowns.
If you get lucky, maybe he’ll drop the firekitty staff for your friendly druids. It’s VERY cool my IRL tank loves his but it does make him a huge “OMG HIT ME” target in battlegrounds icon smile Majordomo Staghelm 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

  1. My guild has done 12-8-5-5 since we’ve started it with Hpally/Disc/Rdruid heals and also with Disc/Disc/Rdruid. We also use a prot pally for tankage.

With that setup we hit the tank’s raid wall at 6 stacks, Barrier right after the 9th and Tranquility on the 10th, which gets us to full health when 12 hits. Give it a try! We end up killing him just as the big mushrooms are spawning and we don’t even have to plan a rotation for them. I know YMMV.

  2. Guess what 2 things we’re missing in our 10 man tea? disco and resto druid ;-) I know, it’s silly! But with resto shaman, holy priest and me this was the best setup for the stacks for our team (we rotate my aura mastery + spirit link since it’s all we have). We also have a bear tank so without a tank’s raid cooldown :P

With a different setup we could easily take more stacks though but in the end I guess you’re right with ymmv. It would be fun to see 12 stacks though! :) I should bring my disc priest out of retirement for some funsies :D

  3. My guild does it with druid/pally/disc, and it’s been quite easy. We take it to 11 stacks on first phase, then stick with 5 on everything after that. PWB and Tranq first scorpion, Divine Hymn 2nd along with pally AOE CD (can’t remember the name, Divine Guardian?) and then back to Tranq and PWB on 3rd scorpion. Luckily DPS are good enough to barely hit a 4th, so that’s not an issue.

Our raid runs with 4 ranged anyway, so the orbs aren’t really an issue, but we haven’t wiped on this guy since the first time we downed him (except when our tank DC’s, but that’s another issue!).

  4. A quick note for anyone who struggles with the orbs on a the 2nd human form.. Something that worked for us was to spread to force Cat form (and orbs), then immediately stack back into Scorpion Form. This made the management of orbs much easier as any one could step out, soak a few stacks and immediately step back in. With a nice slow set of Scythes, it gave us enough time to utilize raid CDs, and ultimately got us to down the boss with much less stress.

Additionally, if we lose more than one or two people (that cannot be b res’d/ankh) we immediately spread, forcing cat again, and giving us 15 seconds of burn for those last few %. As always, YMMV, but that’s our general strat.
