Welcome to Firelands – Beth’tilac Edition!

It’s still hot in here but now we have spiders also! DAMN I HATE SPIDERS!

Beth’tilac is one of the first 5 bosses in Firelands that guilds will clear. The first boss that most guilds are goingis Shannox. In our team, we went to Beth straight after we downed Shannox

Basic Concept

• 1 big flaming spider boss
• lots of spider adds
• 2 phases
• 2 teams in p1 (the web team and the ground team)

Boss = Beth’tilac

• 21M health
• She does a fire aoe from her web in p1 when she’s not engaged
• She will likely only get 20% of hp down in p1
• You’ll burn her like its hot in p2

Ground add #1 = Drone

• Cinderweb Drone
• 2.2M health
• Must be tanked
• Must be killed before a second spawns

Ground add #2 = Spinner

• Cinderweb Spinner
• 232,000 health
• Killing these drop a rope that the “web team” can use to climb up into Beth’s web

Strategy

We ended up getting this kill on a night we didn’t have a resto shammy in the raid or bloodlust. It was a ton harder without those 2 things. But what we did have was 2 Aura Masteries which was sexy

What you ALL need to know:

1. Web Team (tank included) needs to watch for holes in the web, look DOWN nubs
2. Ground team kill the spinners so the web team can get up in the web, seriously. wtf guys
3. When said Spider boss isn’t engaged up top, she’s rain down fire on the ground below. This means use Aura Mastery, and stack up for healzors. Okgr8thx!
4. P2 is all about burn burn baby, and heal heal heal aoe freaking heal baby.

Suggested Healing Asignments

• Holy paladin on Beth tank with bacon on said tank (or bacon your dps on Web Team). They are the Web Team.
• 1 raid healer dedicated to raid on ground
• 1 tank healer on Drone tank, also filling on the raid on ground.

How to handle Phase 1:

the Web Team

Step 1 – Get 1 dps to join the holy paladin + Beth tank in the super Web Team (make yourselves a cool logog too)
Step 2 – Beg your dps to kill 3 spinners so you can get up in the web
Step 3 – If tank goes up first, use a cooldown so you don’t die waiting for your healer
Step 4 – When 3 are up there, pewpew boss and heal you 3
Step 5 – Don’t fall in holes.
Step 5 When she started to “shimmer” she’ll cast a massive aoe that will kill you ALL, jump in a hole pronto to get to ground level. When aoe is done, rinse and repeat with smacking your dps to get spiners down for you.
RINSE AND REPEAT 3 TIMES (Smoldering Devastation)

the Ground Team

Step 1 Tank pick up that Drone, keep him away from any little spiders pl0x
Step 2 Healers heal those green bars up
Step 3 DPS kill little annoying spiders dont let them get to the drone. All must be dead going into P2
Step 4  Kill drone when no little spiders are up. All must be dead going into P2
Step 5 See spinners and your web team on the ground? PRIO KILL THOSE SPINNERS.
RINSE AND REPEAT 3 TIMES (Smoldering Devastation)

Tips for Phase 1:

Use Aura Mastery when you are on ground and she’s raining fire on your raid.
Holy paladin Divine Plea during the Smoldering Devastation transition when you are jumping down (can buff it with a +1200 Int potion before also)
Bribe your raid with cookies to group up for aoe healz too.
You may want to split up your ground dps into specific roles on specific mobs to help handle the “jobs” better.

How to handle Phase 2:

Once the spider has casted Smoldering Devastation three times, she’ll drop down and you’ll pass into Phase 2. Oh hai der AOE damage, she’ll Frenzy!  If any spiders are left up, she’ll heal. You don’t want this…

For healing –>

Line up cooldowns to hit one after another:  spirit link totem –> guardian spriit –> lay on hands –> pain supression –> hand of sacrifice to get through this burn phase.  Group up behind the boss with ranged/dps. Tank healers be aware there is a tank swap going on, heal the right tank

For dpsing –>

Make sure your dps cooldown is off cd for this phase, and use your pot  for pewpewing!   Use Bloodlust and burn her.  Group up behind the boss with ranged/dps/healers.

For tanks–>

Don’t fuck up your tank swaps with The Widow’s Kiss and use some cooldowns on yourselves please.

Conclusion

This is a fight where there is a lot of random stuff going on. It’s not that hard if you recognize that your particular “job” is a small part of the total picture and keep your focus on your job.
