Welcome to Firelands – Baleroc Edition!

Even this boss LOOKS hot. 

Baleroc is one of the first 5 bosses in Firelands. He’s called the Gatekeeper because he’s the one standing between you and Majordomo In the scheme of things, we found this fight to be pretty easy compared to the others, though we had killed him as our third boss. Here’s how we did it.

Basic Concept

• 1 firey dude boss
• no adds
• 1 phase
• we used 1 tank
• 3 healers
• healers get to heal for super big sexy numbers

Boss = Baleroc

• 42M health
• 1 tank
• Blaze of Glory constantly stacking on the tank, he’ll get a lot of hp in the end.
• Healers will need a specific strategy to heal that hp (see below strategy)

Shards of Torment

• boss summons a Shards of Torment
• rotate dps who stands next to it
• dps must switch when Torment reached approx 9 stacks

 

Strategy

I found this to be a super fun fight as a healer

What you ALL need to know:

1. no adds
2. no phases
3. timing of healers + healing buff stacks in imperative
4. timing of dps + getting shard buff/debuff is imperative
5. simple execution fight

Suggested Healing Asignments

• all healers will be rotated on the tank, in 30 second increments.
• healers not on tank duty are healing the target of the shard debuff “torment
• designate a healer who rotation for when Decimation Blade is casted, make sure you have 2 healers spamming the tank at that time

How to handle this fight

Step 1 – setup your healer rotation
Step 2 – healer A begins on the tank, heals for 20 seconds. Healer B and C heal the Torment target and begin gaining stacks (Vital Spark).
Step 3 – call out healer switch, healer B goes on tank duty (with help of Vital Flame), healer A + C gain stacks from Torment target healing (Vital Spark). Time 30 seconds
Step 4 – call out healer switch, healer C goes on tank duty (with help of Vital Flame), healer A + B gain stacks from Torment target healing (Vital Spark). Time 30 seconds
Step 5 –  rinse and repeat until the encounter is over
IMPORTANT: A SECOND HEALER SHOULD SWITCH TO THE TANK WHEN Decimation Blade IS CASTED. IT CAN’T BE RESISTED AND MUST BE HEALED THROUGH

Step 1 – setup your dps / standing near the shard rotation
Step 2 – dps 1 stands next to the shard (continue to dps) til 8-10 stacks, calls for switch
Step 3 – dps 2 stands next to the shard  (continue to dps) til 8-10 stacks, calls for switch
Step 4 – dps 3 stands next to the shard  (continue to dps) til 8-10 stacks, calls for switch
Step 5 –  rinse and repeat until the encounter is over
IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU HAVE Tormented DEBUFF DON’T STAND NEXT TO A SHARD! ALSO, IF NO ONE IS NEXT TO A SHARD, IT WILL Wave of Torment, AND WIPE YOUR RAID.

the tank

Step 1 – hit the boss
Step 2 – giggle at your hp rising to millions
Step 3 – use  a cooldown during  the flame blade, Inferno Blade this can be mitigated
Step 4 – use dodge or parry cooldown (bears can use a agility pot, other tanks use a strength pot) during the  Decimation Blade
IMPORTANT:  DO NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE SHARD!

Tips for this fight:

Use Aura Mastery during the flame blade, Inferno Blade this can be mitigated
Holy paladin Divine Plea when you are NOT tank healing.
It’s helpful to have 1 healer with the in-game stopwatch on, and call out switches.
