Alysrazor 10 man Healing and Strategy Guide

Welcome to Firelands – Alysrazor Edition!

Remember when us healers got to fly around in the air and go through rings on Volithria in ICC? Yeah DPS stole that job from us now…

Alysrazor is one of the first 5 bosses in Firelands and the last required to open up the bridge to Majordomo. This bird is pretty much airborn most of the fight and you’ll be splitting up into teams again to get it down in this fight.

Basic Concept

  • 1 fire birdy boss
  • 3 phases
  • 2 tanks required
  • 3 healers
  • need raid awareness, it’s more a movement and mechanic fight than anything else
  • 2 lucky dps get to FLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY and dps boss in the air
  • MOVEMENT MOVEMENT MOVEMENT
  • INTERRUPTINETTERRUPFUCKINGINTERRUPT

Boss = Alysrazor

  • 51.5M health
  • She’ll be airborn for all but p3
  • Most damage to boss will come from p3
  • Air Team will dps her while flying

Add = Hatchlings

  • Voracious Hatchlings
  • phase 1 only
  • 20M health in 10-man difficulty
  • 2 will spawn, each will be tanked
  • Puts Imprinted on the tank who will do 1,000% additional damage against the hatchling.
  • tank will needs to be drag add to  Plump Lava Worms when they get Hungry, otherwise the hatchling will Tantrum and cause lots of pain on your tank
  • Healers be aware of Gushing Wound The Voracious Hatchling strikes all targets within a 10 yard 60 degree cone, causing them to bleed for 3,000 Physical damage every 0.2 seconds for 1 min. or until the target’s health falls below 50% of their maximum health.

Add = worms

  • 4 Plump Lava Worms spawn
  • phase 1 only
  • Untankable and unkillable
  • Lava Spew spew a molten cone of fire, dealing 40k damage every 1 sec to all enemies within a 18 yard 35 degree cone. Stay the hell out of it
  • Tank will drag his hatchling over when it gets hungry, this will consume the worm
  • When all 4 worms have been eaten, 4 more will spawn
Add = Initiates
  • 2 x Blazing Talon Initiates spawn at a time
  • phase 1 only
  • Predefined pattern
  • put an interrupting dps on each
  • Brushfire is continuously cast, avoid getting hit by it
  • Fieroblast must be interrupted. If not, it will cast 10% quicker for each interrupt (Fire it Up!).

Encounter Strategy

Overall, this fight is all about positioning and staying out of stuff that hurts. It’s an execution fight with multiple phases that once you master them will then be easy.

What you ALL need to know:

  • don’t stand in the center of the arena, boss will sometimes fly down and cleave everyone there
  • see worms breathing fire? DONT GET HIT BY IT!
  • see feathers on the ground? DONT CLICK 3 OF THE UNLESS YOU ARE AIR TEAM
  • is your air team flying? EVERYONE should have 1 feather buff
  • 1 feather = casting while moving and speed buff
  • 3 feathers = flying (AIR TEAM ONLY)
  • Interrupting dps on initiates? dont miss it!  ;-)
  • phase 2 is all about movement and super easy, really, trust me
  • phase 3  EVERYONE DPS ZE BOSS, then group up for aoe healz

Suggested Healing Assignments

  • 1 healer on each tank (if holy paladin, use bacon on your tank and heal for tower of radiance yumminess)
  • 1 raid healer
Suggested “air team” DPS Asignments
  1. Fire Mage
  2. Shadow Priest
  3. All other dps ;-)
On the Pull
  • Boss will knock us all back, so start at the back of the area to lessen the knockback. Firestorm — inflicting 30,000 Fire damage to players and knocking them back. Alysrazor continues to inflict 10,001 Fire damage to players every 1 sec. for 10 sec.
  • Holy Paladin tip: pop wings, holy radiance, and aura mastery to lessen the impact
  • Alysrazor will fly up and perform Molting  – Alysrazor molts, creating Molten Feathers nearby.
  • Molten Feather - While holding a Molten Feather, all spells can be cast while moving and movement speed increases by 30% per feather.
  • Air Team needs to pick up 3 feathers to have Wings of Flame

How to Handle Phase 1

  • See the Skull?  That’s the boss, 2 dpsers following in the air AIR TEAM
  • See the X’s?  That’s where the hatchlings spawn, will be tanked
  • See the Circle + Bad?  Those are worms, don’t get spewed on ;-)
  • See the healer marks?  Those are safe spots
  • See the Stars?  Those are where the initiates spawn, interrupter be ready!
  • See #1? That’s where the first initiate will spawn
  • See #2? That’s where the second initiate will spawn

ALL of you raiders

Step 1 – left group #1 (1 tank, 1 healer, 1 interrupter) move left!
Step 2 – right group #2 (1 tank, 1 healer, 1 interrupter) move right!
Step 3 – STAY OUT OF THE CENTER
Step 4 – lucky air team (2 lucky dps) grab your 3 feathers each
Step 4 – extra raid healer floats around healing stuff in p1, or if a disco priest pewpew adds

the healers

Step 1 – bacon your tank
Step 2 – heal your tank & when adds pop focus them and use this power aura to pre-cast for when they get hungry and cause ouchy on your tank. Make the Hatchling your focus, import this power aura:

Version:4.21; icon:Spell_Misc_EmotionSad; buffname:Hungry; x:-342; focus:true; owntex:true; sound:21; y:-248

Step 3 – don’t stand in fire spewing from the stupid worms
Step 4 – heal nubs who stand in stuff
Step 5 – dispel  the fire magic debuff if interrupt is missed on add
Step 6 –  pick up at least 1 feather once your air team is in the air
Step 7 – squeeee in gleee as you can cast while moving ;-)

NOTE: Healers be aware of Gushing Wound The Voracious Hatchling strikes all targets within a 10 yard 60 degree cone, causing them to bleed for 3,000 Physical damage every 0.2 seconds for 1 min. or until the target’s health falls below 50% of their maximum health.

the AIR TEAM

Step 1 – pick up 3 feathers
Step 2 - tell your raid that you are in the air
Step 3 – fly!
Step 4 – follow boss, go through rings, avoid clouds, and pewpew boss for big pretty numbahs
Step 5 – Falling down? use levitate or slow fall nubs

the Interrupting DPS

Step 1 – see add spawn? dps it and interrupt it
Step 2 - don’t stand in poo
Step 3 – grab 1 feather before p2

the Tanks

Step 1 – grab the hatchling
Step 2 – drag add to  Plump Lava Worms when they get Hungry, otherwise the hatchling will Tantrum (use cooldown if so)
Step 3 – kill hatchling with your gazlillion dps buff
Step 4 – grab 1 feather before p2

Holy Paladin Tips for this phase:

  • Use Divine Protection on cooldown for movement and damage mitigation if worms are nearby and spewing on you (that just sounds dirty)

How to Handle Phase 2

  • Bad = tornadoes + center of the arena
  • It’s really not hard to dodge them, when one goes by, follow it’s trail.
  • Fire Trail does NOT hurt
  • Next one goes by, follow it’s trail the OTHER way.
  • Back and forth back and forth.
  • See the fire rings? They are awesome, run through them and you get a speed boost
  • It’s really easy, did I mention that?  Watch this videos for proof: here.

Holy Paladin Tips for this phase:

  • Use Divine Protection on cooldown for movement and bubble if you are really stuck or need to heal your tank.
  • Use Aura Mastery to help with the fire damage

How to Handle Phase 3

  • Boss collapses in the center, EVERYONE SHOULD PEWPEW (you’ll get mana back, so pewpewhard)
  • All should pick a collapse point for this, and group up
  • 2 adds, 1 tank on each and interrupt them (no dps on them!)
  • Boss will regain strength and fly again, tanks pick boss up and AOE HEALZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
  • Oh yeah, repeat back to phase 1 now

Holy Paladin Tips for this phase:

  • Use Divine Protection to help with damage mitigation
  • Use Aura Mastery to help with raid damage

Now what?

This cycle will repeat for 3 times. After which it’s just burning the boss down before soft enrage.
Conclusion
Lots of avoidable damage. It will take a bit to get the mechanics and movement but once you do, it’s easy.  Only heavy healing is tail end of phase 3 and end of the fight.

  2. Nero

Step 1 – bacon your tank

  3. Gina
